Background & Challenges
This project is a luxury high-end club located in Italy. The overall design pursues extreme purity and a premium feel, with large areas of travertine texture applied to the walls and interior spaces.
However, the massive scale of 80,000 square meters and the client’s extremely stringent requirement for “minimal seams” brought huge challenges to traditional materials:
- Seam Nightmare: If conventional small-format materials were used, an area of 80,000 square meters would generate tens of thousands of intersecting joints. This would completely destroy the natural, holistic beauty of the travertine and easily accumulate dirt.
- Vulnerability and Heavy Weight of Large Panels: If traditional natural stone or rigid ceramic tiles were made into large panels, not only would their dead weight increase dramatically (a disaster for the building structure), but they would also be highly prone to breakage and micro-cracks during transportation, cutting, and curved surface application.
The Solution: Large Format + Custom Color-Matched Joint Filler
To address the minimal seam requirements of this mega-project, the technical team at Guangdong Fortune Stone New Material Co., Ltd. worked closely with the design team to develop a dedicated system solution:
- 1200*3000mm Ultra-Large Format Customization: We specifically customized ultra-large format Flexible Stone panels for this project. Large panels not only drastically reduce the absolute number of seams but also perfectly replicate the continuous texture of natural travertine, making the space feel more luxurious and grand.
- Custom Color-Matched Joint Filler: Paired with the large panels, we developed and provided a custom color-matched joint filler that perfectly blends with the travertine finish. Through extremely precise construction techniques, the filled joints become visually “invisible,” truly achieving a premium “seamless” visual experience.
