Background & Challenges
This tourist resort is located on the beautiful coastline of South Korea. As seen in the image, its outdoor bar and dining area use a large amount of warm, rustic brick-red rammed earth texture. Combined with nighttime neon lighting, it creates an extremely relaxing and modern resort atmosphere.
However, this large-area outdoor application faces severe tests from the coastal environment:
- Fatal Sea Salt Erosion: Sea breezes are rich in sodium chloride particles. When attached to walls, they cause severe electrochemical corrosion, leading to rapid aging and chalking of traditional paints or faux stone.
- Efflorescence and Peeling Caused by High Humidity and Temperature Differences: Coastal moisture and daytime heat alternate, easily preventing internal wall moisture from escaping, which pushes up the decorative layer and causes efflorescence and peeling.
- Strict Public Safety Requirements: As a large, densely populated area, all building materials in the resort must meet strict fire safety and environmental standards.
The Solution: Salt-Alkali Resistant Formula + Hybrid Coating Double Armor
Targeting the dual attack of “salt and moisture” in the coastal environment, the technical team at Guangdong Fortune Stone New Material Co., Ltd. customized a systematic anti-corrosion and anti-aging solution:
- High Salt-Alkali Resistant Base Formula: Relying on our core patented technology, special salt-alkali resistant modified monomers were introduced during the emulsion polymerization stage to improve the density of the polymer network from the inside out, blocking the penetration path of salt and moisture.
- Inorganic-Organic Hybrid Surface Coating: On the surface of the rammed earth Flexible Stone, we applied a specially formulated inorganic silicone-organic acrylic hybrid coating. This film not only perfectly retains the rough feel of rammed earth but also acts like a “bulletproof vest” for the wall, drastically enhancing its salt spray resistance, stain resistance, and UV resistance.
- SGS Extreme Testing Endorsement: To provide solid engineering evidence to the client, we sent this custom product to SGS for rigorous neutral salt spray tests and artificial weathering tests. The test data proved its complete ability to resist coastal environmental erosion.
